INTRODUCTION :
Mrs. Sudha Devi, an enthusiastic and determined rural entrepreneur, transformed her interest in mushroom cultivation into a successful enterprise through scientific training and entrepreneurship development. Recognizing the potential of mushroom farming for income generation and women empowerment, she acquired technical knowledge and business skills through the Agri-Business Incubation Centre (ABIC), ICAR–Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Jodhpur, and established her venture, “Laxmi Organic Mushroom.”
TRAINING :
Mrs. Sudha Devi participated in a 3-day Skill Development Training Programme on “Mushroom Cultivation for Income Generation” organized by the Agri-Business Incubation Centre (ABIC), ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Jodhpur. The training provided hands-on practical and technical knowledge on mushroom cultivation techniques, substrate preparation, spawn management, crop production practices, harvesting, post-harvest handling, value addition, and entrepreneurship opportunities in mushroom-based enterprises.
ACHIEVEMENTS :
Within a short span of establishment, “Laxmi Organic Mushroom” has emerged as a successful women-led mushroom enterprise with an annual turnover of approximately ₹1.5 lakh. In addition to the production and sale of fresh mushrooms, Mrs. Sudha Devi has diversified her enterprise through the preparation of value-added products such as mushroom powder and mushroom pickle, thereby enhancing profitability and market opportunities. The enterprise has contributed significantly to improving household income and promoting women entrepreneurship in rural areas. Her success story demonstrates the potential of mushroom cultivation and value addition as a sustainable livelihood option and serves as an inspiration for aspiring women entrepreneurs and rural youth.
